Equifax has developed an application that keeps track of scams and frauds across the United States. The application is called “Equifax Mobile” on mobile devices, and “Equifax Places” on its web based version. Currently the application is only available on the IPad, Iphone, Android devices and a web browser application.
How does Equifax Places Work?
Equifax states that they keep and maintain historical data such as fraud alerts and credit scores by zip-codes right across the country. That data is then fed into a database and presented in a searchable map form, based on the 20 closest zip-codes entered into the search form.
What can Equifax Places App Do?
There are 3 main things that the application can do for free.
- Scores by Zip Code: Basically this allows you to feel really bad about your credit or makes you feel better about yourself, depending on where your credit stands. It will tell you the average credit scores around you based on your GPS location.
- Equifax Fraud Index: This feature ranks frauds around you in 3 levels: low, medium, and high. I am guessing that if you live in an area where credit fraud or identity theft is ranked as high you should be extra diligent.
- Equifax Credit Rankings: This feature brings you the average total debt by a specific zipcode.
Beyond what Equifax Places can do, you can buy additional products right inside of the application.
Take the application for spin and let us know what you think.
