
A teacher at Cross Keys High School in Dekalb County is currently under investigation. Cross Keys High School has an 86% Hispanic population, and the majority of the parents speak English as a second language. According to the AJC, a teacher at the school went on a post-election tirade. The unnamed teacher reportedly made disparaging comments about undocumented immigrants. The teacher was removed from the classroom and is currently under suspension.
The offensive remarks were made on Wednesday following the election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States. President of the PTA, Michelle Cisneros’ daughter was in front of the teacher when the rant was aired by the teacher.
According to an unnamed district official:
“In accordance with established protocol, we began an investigation on Thursday … when the allegations were brought to our attention, ” district officials said in a statement. “The teacher in question was removed immediately from the school pending completion of the investigation. Threatening, abusive behavior will not be tolerated in any way and such behavior will be dealt with without delay.”
