Jamaican scientist, Dr. Lawrence Williams, who was granted a United States patent (“Composition and method for treating cancer”) for his cancer busting drug, has been offered $100 million US dollars for his research. However, Dr. Lawrence and his co-inventor, Dr. H George Levy, have so far declined the offer.

Dr. Lawrence is a former lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica and currently works as a research scientist at the Scientific Research Council (SRC), also located in Kinston. Dr. Levy is a fellow Jamaican working as a doctor out of the United States.
Their invention “relates generally to the treatment of various disease states with Dibenzyl Trisulfide (DTS). Further, the present invention relates to the use of DTS for cancer therapeutic treatment.” According to their patent application.
This drug will have the potential to treat a wide range of cancers and other diseases. Some of the cancer cells that this drug has been found to be effective against include:
- Brain (neuro blastoma),
- Bladder (primary bladder carcinoma),
- Breast (mammary carcinoma),
- Fibrous (sarcoma),
- Skin (melanoma), and
- Small cell lung cancer.
A key aspect of this drug is that “DTS compound does not affect healthy cells.” Treatments involving chemotherapy, for example, to destroy cancer cells may also damage or destroy healthy cells in the body.
The DTS compound was extracted from a local plant called Petiveria alliacea L. (guinea hen weed). The utilization of plants has long been used by rural folks in Jamaica to cure a wide range of illnesses. The guinea hen weed is no exception. You can even buy Guinea Hen Weed tea through Amazon.
