I’ve been a teacher for a few years now, but I’ve never jumped on the bandwagon with Teacherspayteachers.com. TeachersPayTeachers is a website that allows teachers to earn money from selling their lesson resources to other teachers. I finally decided to check it out last week, and I was quite impressed. I didn’t realize how much quality free stuff they had on there. I haven’t taken a whole lot of time to really get to know the site yet, but my first few visits have been easy and successful.
I love how you can easily choose which grade level you’d like to focus your search on. You can also filter the search by clicking on free only. I don’t have to waste my time sorting through the paid items, because I am not about to pay for worksheets…that’s just me.
Awesome Center Activities For Free
This website offers more than just worksheets. I have found a bunch of great center games that are perfect for my 2nd graders as well as a couple smart board activities.
My TeacherPayTeacher Suggestion
The one thing I would change about the site is that I would make an easier viewing system. For example, in Smart Exchange, they have a feature where you can click preview to preview the whole file before downloading it. In this site you have to click on the item, it takes you to the person’s page that made the item, and then it gives you a very small image of a page or two of the file. You have to download it to really see if it is something you would like. This takes up more time than I want to be spending.
Finally, I believe that TeacherPayTeachers is a great resource for teachers to both use what effective teachers across the country are using (there are many common core resources available now), and also a place where teachers can earn extra dough from other teachers willing to pay for lesson plans and other lesson resources. From the look of things, many teachers are forking out substantial amounts for power point slides and they are happy about their purchases. I have been very satisfied with the free lessons that I have obtained, I can only image the quality and usefulness of paid lesson resources.
